Freight and Logistics Manager

• Develop logistics strategies that improve lead times and reduce costs.

• Collect KPI reports related to lead times and cost from supplier pick up to loading.  

• Deal with customs issues.

• Arrange air freight shipments.

• Communicate issues and roadblocks with US team.  

• Plan and coordinate all freight operations for exports to the USA.

• Manage local domestic cargo movements within India and the USA to ensure efficient and timely delivery.

• Establish and maintain relationships with shipping companies, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to optimize logistics operations.

• Ensure compliance with international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and local transportation laws.

• Monitor and report on logistics performance, including shipping times, costs, and compliance.

• Collaborate with the operations and sourcing teams to align logistics operations with business objectives.

• Resolve issues related to damaged or lost shipments, negotiating resolutions with carriers when necessary.

• Work on freight budgeting and develop methods to save freight costs.

• Be knowledgeable about US customs procedures and regulations.

• Possess comprehensive export knowledge for all countries, with a major focus on the USA.

• Have experience in import operations and be able to manage the import process efficiently.

• Able to manage expedited air cargo, UPS, FedEx, DHL and other third party freight forwarders from the USA and India as needed.

Preferred-

• Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

• Professional certification (e.g. CLTD, CSCP, CISCP, CISCM, CCS, FIATA or CPSM

• Minimum of 15 years of experience in freight management and logistics, preferably in export operations to the USA and domestic cargo management.

Required-

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.  

• 10+ years in the field with 2+ years in an international context

• 2+ years of management experience

• Strong communication skills in English and Hindi (additional local language will be a plus)

• Charismatic personality.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.  

• Strong understanding of international shipping regulations, customs processes, and domestic transportation in both India and the USA.

• Knowledge of US customs regulations and procedures.

• Experience in freight budgeting and cost-saving strategies.

• Export experience across various countries, with a major emphasis on the USA.

• Experience in import operations and compliance with import regulations.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and organizational skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
