Responsibilities

  1. Material & Fabric Expertise:
  • Utilize textile engineering knowledge to select appropriate materials such as 1000D nylons, polypro fabrics with PU coatings, EVA foams, and PE splints, ensuring durability and safety.
  • Inspect, evaluate and optimize if necessary the stitching techniques to ensure durability and performance of products.
  • Conduct quality assessments of fabrics and finished products to ensure they meet industry standards and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to address any material-related issues.
  • Work on integrating textile materials with mechanical components to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  1. Product Design & Development:  
  • Collaborate with the design team to create, develop, and optimize sporting goods (e.g., helmets, knee pads) using injection molding and other processes.
  • Lead the injection molding process for helmets and other gear, ensuring quality in EPS foam and ABS shell manufacturing, including prototyping and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet performance, safety, and aesthetic requirements.
  • Oversee the production process, including manufacturing, assembly, and quality control.

  1. Safety Standards & Certifications:

       Ensure all products meet international safety and compliance standards, such as:

  • CE-EN 14120:2003+A1:2007, CE-EN 1078
  • CPSC 1203, ASTM F-1492, AS/NZS 2063
  • CPSIA + Prop 65 for chemical testing
  1. Quality Assurance & Process Oversight:
  • Implement quality control procedures to monitor and improve the performance of textiles and mechanical components.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to fabric quality, stitching, and mechanical performance.
  • Manage in-house lab testing for impact resistance, batch quality testing, and ensure products comply with regulatory certifications.
  • Oversee the entire production process, from pattern creation and sewing to packaging, ensuring in-house control of all steps for quality efficiency.
  1. Project Management:
  • Manage project timelines and resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Communicate progress and updates to stakeholders, including engineering teams and management.
  1. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain detailed records of design changes, testing results, and quality assessments.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on project status, challenges, and achievements.
  1. Tool Making & Customization: Oversee tool-making processes and customization for fabric printing (sublimation/screen printing) and product design enhancements.

Qualifications

    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Textile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Advanced degrees or certifications in textile technology or mechanical engineering are a plus.
    • Experience:
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in textile engineering with a focus on fabric quality, stitching techniques and experience in manufacturing sporting goods with a focus on plastics (helmets, knee pads, etc.).
    • Experience in mechanical engineering with a background in product design and development.
    • Proven understanding of international safety standards such as CPSC, CE, ASTM, AS/NZS.
    • Strong expertise in injection molding, fabric selection, and assembly processes, particularly with EVA foams, heavy-duty fabrics, and PE plastics.
    • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of textile materials, stitching methods, and fabric quality analysis.
    • Proficiency in mechanical design and analysis, including CAD software.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control techniques.
    • Familiarity with BSCI audits and compliance.
    • Knowledge of textile printing and fabric customization.
    • Experience with EPS foam injection molding and helmet assembly.
    • Ability to manage the tool-making process for custom molds.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
    • Effective communication and project management skills.
    • Willing to travel
    • Proficient in English
    • Certifications:
      BSCI certification or familiarity with the audit process is a plus; experience with SGS testing and certification processes is an added advantage.
    • Working Conditions:
      Primarily office-based with visits to manufacturing facilities and testing labs.
