Responsibilities

  1. Welding Procedure Development:
  • Develop, review, and approve welding procedures and process specifications.
  • Ensure welding procedures are in compliance with industry standards such as AWS (American Welding Society), ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers), and ISO (International Organization for Standardization).
  1. Quality Assurance:
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of welding operations to ensure adherence to welding procedures and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain a welding quality control program.
  • Address and resolve any welding-related quality issues or non-conformances.
  1. Training and Support:
  • Provide training and guidance to Engineers on proper welding techniques and procedures.
  • Offer technical support and troubleshooting for welding-related issues.
  1. Process Optimization:
  • Analyze welding processes and make recommendations for improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance quality.
  • Monitor and evaluate welding equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
  1. Compliance and Documentation:
  • Ensure all welding activities comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date welding documentation, including procedure qualifications, inspection reports, and certification records.
  1. Collaboration:
  • Work closely with the sourcing team, engineering team, production team, and quality assurance personnel to ensure seamless integration of welding processes into overall production operations at the supplier end.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support new product development and process improvements.
  1. Certification and Standards Compliance:
  • Stay current with industry developments, standards, and advancements in welding technology.
  • Ensure all welding activities meet relevant certification requirements and maintain necessary certifications.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Certifications:
  • Certified Welding Engineer (CWE) from a recognized organization. e.g., AWS, CSWIP (Certification Scheme for Welding Inspection Personnel).
  • Additional certifications in welding inspection or other relevant areas (e.g., CWI - Certified Welding Inspector) are a plus.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing welding procedures and quality control measures.
  • Experience with various welding processes and materials.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of welding techniques, procedures, and equipment. Understanding of material properties and welding metallurgy. Provide training, and drive process improvements.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address welding issues and optimize processes.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure precision in welding processes and quality assurance.
  • Willing to travel
  • Proficient in English
